"The club, for the students by the students"
The history of the association between Alumni and CEG students spans over 100 years. It's challenging to document all developments in the institution, where collaboration has been extensive. From insights shared by senior alumni, we've distilled the essence of Career Guidance Programs in CEG, which began informally and became formalized over time.
Relation of alumni and studentCareer Guidance Programs at CEG trace their origins to 1988, initiated by Er. Ram Thukkaram following the 1963 batch's silver jubilee reunion. With an initial corpus of Rs.1 lakh, the program aimed to connect alumni and students to enhance career development. Many alumni, individually or through their companies, have since contributed significantly.
1988The program evolved to include digital tools and social media, allowing global alumni engagement. Alumni have played crucial roles, transitioning from informal discussions to structured workshops on resume writing, mock interviews, and more. The shift to online platforms during the COVID-19 pandemic has improved accessibility, highlighting CEG's adaptability and commitment to student success.
2019Currently, formal and informal alumni groups work closely with students, focusing on specific branches or batches. While not all activities are recorded, the impact on students' job prospects and interview preparedness is significant
2020-2023The newly launched student-led Career Guidance Forum aims to enhance collaboration among volunteering alumni, addressing the growing need for internship-based recruitment and up-to-date technological knowledge, supported by industry-practicing alumni.
